WHAT IS OUR JUNIOR PROGRAM

The Junction believes that athlete development begins at the early stages of their sporting life. We therefore have created the Junior Athlete Program to help aspiring athletes gain the movement capabilities necessary to take their performance to the next level. 

THE ASSESSMENT

While there are core components that all athletes need, true athleticism comes from identifying key improvement areas from our assessment process. During the Assessment, our expert coaches will:

  • Discuss your goals and training history

  • Perform an athletic movement assessment

  • Give detailed feedback on key improvement areas

  • Guide you towards true athletic performance 

The Assessment is the cornerstone of your training program, and allows us to create a plan specific to the individual.

IF WE CAN ADDRESS AN IMBALANCE WE CAN UNLOCK SPEED YOU DIDN'T KNOW YOU WERE CAPABLE OF!

Cristian initially came to us wanting to improve his speed for his sport, soccer. During the initial assessment, our coaches identified that he had a big imbalance between his left and right side when jumping and hoping. This resulted in overuse of his left side and not only reduced his speed, but also increased his risk of injury. Creating a program that was tailored to Cristian’s goals, needs and requirements of his sport, we were able to dramatically reduce this imbalance and improve his speed.

 

Crisitan is now dominating the field and has never been so confident in his strength and ability. This is why we believe the assessment process is necessary for all athletes, and is a reflection of how effective a program can be when tailored specifically to the individual.

1. STRENGTH

Creating the foundation of all athletic pursuits, Strength is the cornerstone to any athlete program. For our Junior Athletes, this pillar is designed to reinforce correct movement technique, prioritising movement over weight. 

Our primary goal with all Junior Athletes is to give them the confidence to move well at a young age, setting them up for success in their later years no matter the sport they pursue.

2. SPEED

When looking at sport performance, Speed is the universal quality that can help every athlete. Sprint technique is often a big limitation of Junior Athletes, and therefore is a big emphasis of our program. Incorporating speed specific strength, as well as dedicated sprint sessions, we have seen a huge increase in an athletes sprint ability and confidence on the field, pitch or court.

3. RESILIENCE

While strength and speed are essential for any athlete, they can only truely be realised when we are injury free. This is why we incorporate a resilience element into all of our sessions. This is designed to address imbalances, areas of pain or common injuries seen in sport.
